Love is in the Snow!!!

Amazing pics isn't it? :) Those precious moments on snow were much more beautiful than this pic.. Yes, i mean it.. How I wish I could stop these moments forever! But, if i did that I would also stop all the other hundreds and thousands of wonderful moments and excitements that are about to come!! I'm thankful to technology, and the maker of the great camera - atleast I could keep these moments safe and cherish them whenever and wherever I feel!

HaPPy HaPpy Mother's Day!!

These days, I find real good reasons to put my Digiscrap into action.. I have suddenly got back the obsession with finding scrapbook freebies and coming up with new layouts.. and here's another one in honor of my darlings- my best buddies-  my role models- my MOMMIES.  Let me not drag my post on how crazy i am as a digiscrapper,- that would be a totally new post coming up later, but yes, this post is solely and wholly dedicated to my Moms! One mommy who got me into this world and tolerated me for more than 2 decades, now continues but not on a full fledged mode  and another Mommy who has happily accepted the challenge to tolerate me for the rest of my life!! :D

Both are the apples of my eyes! ya apples, you got it right... :) I'm ever grateful for being their kid, and they never ever make me feel I've grown up... I still enjoy being pampered and I sometimes really wonder if I've been married-  i also wonder at my age- coz my Mom part 1 already had a 8 year old me by this time! :P They say, you are a kid to your parents, no matter how old you get.. and that's so true...!

I'm grateful to Almighty for giving me such precious gems and I pray that God bless them with lots of love, peace, good health, happiness and all that they truly deserve! WE LOVE YOU ALWAYS!

I also, honor and wish all these blessings on each and every MOM on this earth- my friends, my batch mates, my colleagues, my relatives, all my friends' mommies, and each one of you whom I really do not know! YOU ARE SIMPLY THE BEST!!!

Happy Birthday Bro!!!

Today is my Friend & Brother Mukund Shenoy’s birthday. If you are a facebook fan and on my friends list you might have already known him to be a very reactive buddy on my facebook posts- I guess if I try to count, his likes and comments are the maximum- and yeah I’m proud of it!

I have known him since my college days. This is how I met him for the first time- He was just another new face among a big pool of new faces as I entered the classroom on my first day at ICFAI National College. It was our Human Resource class and our lecturer wanted to have an “Ice Breaker” session, so that each one gets to know at least one new being in the class. And so we were asked to pick a name from the box and pair up. I got this buddy’s name on my paper and then our task was to know each other- Name, Place, Hobbies etc and introduce each other to the whole classroom. It was really interesting to know that Mukund was a bright boy right from his childhood as his main hobby was reading books and he also told me that his grandpa used to take him to library when he was a little boy and inculcated this habit of reading in him. It was nice knowing him that day, and gradually we became a bunch of great friends- Me, Mukku (his pet name), Jane (Jen Quadras) and Nivs (Nivya Shetty).  And yes, we all call him our Brother because he is worth it.  By God’s grace, it’s been almost 6 years since then and we all are still in touch with each other. Thanks to modern technology, we find ourselves next door, though geographically we are several miles and seas apart- it’s a connection between India, Dubai, Qatar and Australia. Different time zones, but it gives us immense pleasure to be there for each other.

Mukku is now the owner of a successful business- “Shri Mukund Retails” in Udupi, India. He is blessed with the most gorgeous and wonderful wife- Anusha Shenoy and is the proud Dad of the sweetest baby boy of the Universe- Ved Shenoy. On his birthday I could just make another digi scrap for him, I wish I could have made it better if I had Photoshop here at work, but I managed to put it together with the resources at hand. I’m glad he liked it- (refer facebook comments)! J

Mukku: Happy Birthday Bro!! It’s great to have a bro like you! Wish you all success, happiness, love and peace today and always! God bless!

Love Is Eternal.......

Digiscrap is one of my favourite hobbies and i just LOVE to try out new layouts and designs... This is a simple one tried out after a real long time. I'm sure it is more than 3 years i have actually done anything on it!!!! I like scrapbooking, but since it requires a lot of printing, sticking, and collecting real artifacts to decorate, digiscrap makes it easy, economical, and less messy. You just need  a design software like Photoshop, with basic knowledge and a few sets of decorative pages and elements that are available on the internet. There are several websites on this particular hobby and especially most of the Europeans fancy this one to be their major leisure activity. They even create many elements like texture pages and decorative elements, alpha numeric pieces too, with different design themes like summer, holidays, school time, vacations etc.  While some of them are for a price, there are a few generous bloggers out there who give out freebies - a set of pages and decorative elements free to download for users- only for personal use. I am very fond of these and keep looking for and collecting whenever my heart craves for it. As of today, I eagerly look forward for more freebies to gather in my digiscrap library and then come up with those grand new ones soon...

Cheers!!

"He Knows it All...."- A short Christmas Story, My Story! :)

A smile on my face, a story to share. This happened to me recently- One day, late November, when i had been to one of the biggest malls in Dubai, just to pick some gift to my friend, who was celebrating her birthday. I had no idea what to buy, just thought i would get something in mind as i 'browse' through. While i was still searching i just happened to bump into the most decorated, lovely and vibrant section of the mall, - the Christmas sale was on! I could hardly resist enter the section and get completely lost midst various sizes of Xmas trees, Santaclaus images, cribs, mistletoe and yet a huge stock of lovely Christmas decorations. What caught my eyes was the Poinsettia plant - an artificial one, and my heart started gettin' so attached to it.. not seeing the price tag that was already attached! :P looking at the price (which was quite high for the moment) i just reluctantly managed to keep it back at the place where it belonged... Huh! only i know what it was to let go of such a sweet looking bunch! I just managed to pull myself away and got a nice frame for my friend.
Days passed and memories too.... I had almost forgotten about the incident .. Christmas Day has just a week to come by, and already our sweet little nest was decorated with little crib and a well decorated and lighted Christmas tree.. Doors decorated with wreaths and yes, Christmasy all around! I am at my workplace right now, and a while back, my colleague, who's in his early 60s, whom i admire for his professionalism, respect and care towards me, dropped a real Red Poinsettia Plant on my desk, while i was over the phone. I couldn't wait to end the call and thinking that it was for the office, i told him that the plant was amazing..... and you cant imagine my happiness as he said : "Yes! Its For You.... Merry Christmas!!!" :) I'm so delighted to carry the plant to my home!!
So this is a message i get - To trust God and just Trust Him like a little child. If He can take care of my little desires, giving me a better replacement, how much more will He care about the life He has given me? :)

King's Speech!

Another interesting assignment : I had to watch the movie "King's Speech" and then come up with a poster that best explains the movie. The condition that the poster shouldn't contain any downloaded images was a challenge. i tried capturing the emotion of the duke(King) in the movie and with the Adobe Illustrator software and a lil touch of PSP, I jus came up with this poster. Believe me, this wasn't at first shot, it took a lot of drafts and corrections wasn't really easy, but got much better with each draft and feedback.

The Final Poster:

Place of Worship- Infant Jesus Shrine, Viveknagar

As a part of my ETA (End Term Assignment), I had to visit any place of worship and click atleast 20 snaps that could best describe the place to anyone who would like to visit it. I chose Infant Jesus Shrine, which is and has always been close to my heart.

I had been to this place late evening yesterday and was delighted to see the golden sun rays falling on the artefacts of the church, making it appear very graceful. Images were clicked with default camera settings (auto) without any effects, as the outdoor lighting was giving it the perfect effect possible. These photographs are not edited further with any software.

My best clicks:

History of the Shrine (Source:www.infantjesusshrine.com)

The popular Infant Jesus Shrine is located near the busy streets of Viveknagar, Bangalore. The history of this Shrine dates back to the mid sixties, when Fr. Paul Kinatukara, the Priest of the neighbouring Parish felt the need for a Church for areas around Somanahalli, also known as Viveknagar. The foundation stone was laid in the year 1969 by Most Rev. Dr. S. Lourduswamy, the then Archbishop of Bangalore. On June 9th, 2005, the new church was inaugurated by Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore, Dedicated by His Excellency, Most Rev. Dr. Pedro Lopez Quintana, Apostolic Nuncio in India; Blessing of the Tabernacle, by Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Pinto, Archbishop Emeritus, Archdiocese of Bangalore.

Designed by architects, Thomas Associates, it has a a fan shaped hall, to accommodate about 2500 people with 9 faces and openings running all round the church. In addition, there is a mezzanine area and basement parking. The podium is raised above road level with steps and ramp on either side. The interior of the church is so designed that wherever people are seated they will feel that the altar is facing them. The main mural which is 6x9 metres replicates the nativity scene in the nativity church of Jerusalem.

The devotion to Infant Jesus has become widespread and the Infant Jesus Shrine is now known as the place of pilgrimage, miracles and Divine solace not only in this state, but across the country. Thousand of devotees from all faiths throng the shrine on Thursday, to honour Infant Jesus.

Cheers!

A New Beginning.... (Excuse me, its not my Wedding!!))

Days are never like what it was a few years back... Its a new life, a new thinking, a new dream and hope, a new prayer, a new perspective and of-course more importantly, a new bagfull of stationary and art supplies!!! :P

Its so amazing how things have changed, for good, and how each moment of my life in the past had a meaning (seemed a tragedy then, which gathered a lot of grumbling frm my side). I'm thankful to Almighty for revealing the reason for each event that has happened and the result is this beautiful life i enjoy today!!

I personally feel unless a person discovers his true self he cannot really feel and enjoy the true beauty of the world. And, now, when i say this, there are always hundred very valid reasons on how one "CANNOT" do what he likes/ or aspires in life, like i did a few years back..BUT, among those valid reasons, lies a ignored "RISK" factor, which decides if you are STRONG enough to take it up and CELEBRATE the rest of your life (jus ONE LIFE that you have been gifted), OR jus go with the flow, thinking everything is your fate and grumble ALL YOUR LIFE....

I CHOSE THE FIRST... HOW ABOUT YOU??? :)

Cheers!!

My First Experiment With Acrylic Paints!

It was reaaaaly long since I painted… Last time I had been to CROSSWORDS- a book store, I happened to bump into a painting section with varieties of paints, painting boards, canvas of different size, palettes and what not…arranged in such a tempting way… just drove me “CRAZY”… felt like buying everything out there… I began comforting and convincing my soul that the situations were tight and I had to have some control over my desires… :(
My friend, who accompanied me saw my “deep love” for painting.. She offered to lend her coffee mug if I wanted to paint on it since it was a plain one… WOW!! My happiness knew no bounds.. without second thoughts just started selecting colors that would match with her mug, grabbed a maroon and silver Fevicryl Acrylic color. Now this was something new I was gonna try…

I finally did it today….and as you can see below, these were the results… :D

Before

After

May not be the best piece in the world, but it was my first experiment with acrylic colors and I LOVE IT!!!! :)

The Ultimate "Bheja Fry" !!!

I have heard of the “buggers”, seen them in movies, enjoyed the shows in serials, read about them in story books… but never ever dreamt of a “live bugging session” in my life….

This day reminds me of “Bharath Bhushan” character of the “Bheja Fry” movie, if anyone has watched it… a good entertainer though!

Lemme tell you how it all began:

My friend, a newbie to Bangalore had to attend her entrance exams at a college in Rajajinagar, Bangalore. Since she wasn’t aware of the place, I took the role of a “Good Samaritan” and as requested by my warden, agreed to take her to the college and get her safe back to the hostel. It was a Sunday and I had no plans of going out.. Jus took a book, a camera and my earphones to pass my time. It was a 3hrs exam and supposed to begin at 10 a.m. We began early from our hostel and happened to reach at 8:50 a.m.!! (didn’t want to take any risk of being late, since both of us weren’t aware of the exact place)

As suggested by the principal of college, we moved to the spacious college ground, surrounded by huge trees, cool breeze and a low compound wall like a stone bench on which we happily sat on.. My friend opened her book to study and I was lost admiring the beauty of nature…and we saw a big group of students led by their guardians to the ground… One among them a fatherly figure… looked like a much experienced respected person, dressed in a subtle colour formal wear… jus happened to come to us….

As he approached, we smiled at him… and that seems to be the “BIGGEST MISTAKE” we ever did!!! He started with the basic What? Where? When? How? And Who? Type of questions all targeted at my poor friend, which only she was answerable because I dint know the “A”, “B”, “C” of medical entrance exams… I switched my brain off and lost in my own thoughts jus nodded at him whenever he happened to look at me during the conversation. Can you believe he started off at around 9:00 a.m. and until I reminded him that the time was 9:45 and my friend had to go to the exam hall, he went on and on and on and on until the admin called all the students to the hall…! My friend cudnt revise even a word before her exams!

Now, I knew I had to wait there for 3 hours, and was sure of this bugger to continue his conversation with me… He just sat at a distance of approximately 15-20 feet away and before he could start I immediately called up my mom, thinking ill talk to her and escape his hobby or pastime whatever it is to him…. But unfortunately mom was out of network :( Immediately called up my sister for rescue, she picked up the call.. and that was the most happiest moment I ever had over the phone that day! We talked for about half n hour and then as I talked I just moved out of the ground to see if I have a better place to sit.. there wasn’t any…Disconnected the phone and jus went out of campus and bought a “Maaza” bottle for myself…

Now I had a plan. I put my earphones on and kept the speakers near to my mouth, pretending to talk I slowly walked back towards the ground…. Keeping the same 15-20 feet distance I sat on the compound wall… “Maaza” was so tempting that I just put my speakers down for a second and opened the bottle, put it in my mouth and………. THERE COMES THE BUGGER!!! :O
He started asking so many questions, exchanging facts about his numerous degrees (B.ed, LLB, public administration, MBA in HR etc etc etc.. jus remembered four of these!) and a lecture on each of the degree.. then about me and my work, “Why this? And Why not that???” was the main theme of his conversation which lasted for a complete one and half hour…. I was almost about to faint when he just said he’ll take a break…… :) and “be back” :( I wish he did not say the last three words !!

Relaxing and regaining my lost peace, having a big sip of juice, I opened my favourite book : “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” by Joseph Murphy…

Enjoyed clicking snaps in between and experimenting with my camera… just tried capturing a few shots....

It wasn’t even half n hour and the monster comes back to pavilion!

I don’t know why he has a question on every dam thing he sees… He started flooding questions on the book I was reading… I told it was about having positive attitude in life… and he started arguing…I dint wanna have a debate with him on such a topic.. jus nodded on what he said.. Ultimately he made me say yes to his belief that negative attitude in life is better than positive!!! and this session went for about one full hour (almost driving me crazy, without an argument.. I wonder how long would it last if I gave a counter attack!! ) and…….. a Silver Lining brought a BIG SMILE on my face …my friend just came out of the exam hall half an hour before the actual time… felt like screaming out of joy for the victory of getting rid of him.. My friend just disappeared for a while before she came to the place where I was…. She then confesses to me that she moved away from our sight for two minutes as she could not control her laugh looking at the bugger churning my brain…

Happily I packed off my things and bid a Happy Good bye to him… and guess what? He ends up our conversation through the question of the millennium “You are coming with her over here again to write the next exam…. right????”

Just couldnt stop laughing once we were out of his sight!!!
