"He Knows it All...."- A short Christmas Story, My Story! :)

A smile on my face, a story to share. This happened to me recently- One day, late November, when i had been to one of the biggest malls in Dubai, just to pick some gift to my friend, who was celebrating her birthday. I had no idea what to buy, just thought i would get something in mind as i 'browse' through. While i was still searching i just happened to bump into the most decorated, lovely and vibrant section of the mall, - the Christmas sale was on! I could hardly resist enter the section and get completely lost midst various sizes of Xmas trees, Santaclaus images, cribs, mistletoe and yet a huge stock of lovely Christmas decorations. What caught my eyes was the Poinsettia plant - an artificial one, and my heart started gettin' so attached to it.. not seeing the price tag that was already attached! :P looking at the price (which was quite high for the moment) i just reluctantly managed to keep it back at the place where it belonged... Huh! only i know what it was to let go of such a sweet looking bunch! I just managed to pull myself away and got a nice frame for my friend.
Days passed and memories too.... I had almost forgotten about the incident .. Christmas Day has just a week to come by, and already our sweet little nest was decorated with little crib and a well decorated and lighted Christmas tree.. Doors decorated with wreaths and yes, Christmasy all around! I am at my workplace right now, and a while back, my colleague, who's in his early 60s, whom i admire for his professionalism, respect and care towards me, dropped a real Red Poinsettia Plant on my desk, while i was over the phone. I couldn't wait to end the call and thinking that it was for the office, i told him that the plant was amazing..... and you cant imagine my happiness as he said : "Yes! Its For You.... Merry Christmas!!!" :) I'm so delighted to carry the plant to my home!!
So this is a message i get - To trust God and just Trust Him like a little child. If He can take care of my little desires, giving me a better replacement, how much more will He care about the life He has given me? :)

The Ultimate "Bheja Fry" !!!

I have heard of the “buggers”, seen them in movies, enjoyed the shows in serials, read about them in story books… but never ever dreamt of a “live bugging session” in my life….

This day reminds me of “Bharath Bhushan” character of the “Bheja Fry” movie, if anyone has watched it… a good entertainer though!

Lemme tell you how it all began:

My friend, a newbie to Bangalore had to attend her entrance exams at a college in Rajajinagar, Bangalore. Since she wasn’t aware of the place, I took the role of a “Good Samaritan” and as requested by my warden, agreed to take her to the college and get her safe back to the hostel. It was a Sunday and I had no plans of going out.. Jus took a book, a camera and my earphones to pass my time. It was a 3hrs exam and supposed to begin at 10 a.m. We began early from our hostel and happened to reach at 8:50 a.m.!! (didn’t want to take any risk of being late, since both of us weren’t aware of the exact place)

As suggested by the principal of college, we moved to the spacious college ground, surrounded by huge trees, cool breeze and a low compound wall like a stone bench on which we happily sat on.. My friend opened her book to study and I was lost admiring the beauty of nature…and we saw a big group of students led by their guardians to the ground… One among them a fatherly figure… looked like a much experienced respected person, dressed in a subtle colour formal wear… jus happened to come to us….

As he approached, we smiled at him… and that seems to be the “BIGGEST MISTAKE” we ever did!!! He started with the basic What? Where? When? How? And Who? Type of questions all targeted at my poor friend, which only she was answerable because I dint know the “A”, “B”, “C” of medical entrance exams… I switched my brain off and lost in my own thoughts jus nodded at him whenever he happened to look at me during the conversation. Can you believe he started off at around 9:00 a.m. and until I reminded him that the time was 9:45 and my friend had to go to the exam hall, he went on and on and on and on until the admin called all the students to the hall…! My friend cudnt revise even a word before her exams!

Now, I knew I had to wait there for 3 hours, and was sure of this bugger to continue his conversation with me… He just sat at a distance of approximately 15-20 feet away and before he could start I immediately called up my mom, thinking ill talk to her and escape his hobby or pastime whatever it is to him…. But unfortunately mom was out of network :( Immediately called up my sister for rescue, she picked up the call.. and that was the most happiest moment I ever had over the phone that day! We talked for about half n hour and then as I talked I just moved out of the ground to see if I have a better place to sit.. there wasn’t any…Disconnected the phone and jus went out of campus and bought a “Maaza” bottle for myself…

Now I had a plan. I put my earphones on and kept the speakers near to my mouth, pretending to talk I slowly walked back towards the ground…. Keeping the same 15-20 feet distance I sat on the compound wall… “Maaza” was so tempting that I just put my speakers down for a second and opened the bottle, put it in my mouth and………. THERE COMES THE BUGGER!!! :O
He started asking so many questions, exchanging facts about his numerous degrees (B.ed, LLB, public administration, MBA in HR etc etc etc.. jus remembered four of these!) and a lecture on each of the degree.. then about me and my work, “Why this? And Why not that???” was the main theme of his conversation which lasted for a complete one and half hour…. I was almost about to faint when he just said he’ll take a break…… :) and “be back” :( I wish he did not say the last three words !!

Relaxing and regaining my lost peace, having a big sip of juice, I opened my favourite book : “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” by Joseph Murphy…

Enjoyed clicking snaps in between and experimenting with my camera… just tried capturing a few shots....

It wasn’t even half n hour and the monster comes back to pavilion!

I don’t know why he has a question on every dam thing he sees… He started flooding questions on the book I was reading… I told it was about having positive attitude in life… and he started arguing…I dint wanna have a debate with him on such a topic.. jus nodded on what he said.. Ultimately he made me say yes to his belief that negative attitude in life is better than positive!!! and this session went for about one full hour (almost driving me crazy, without an argument.. I wonder how long would it last if I gave a counter attack!! ) and…….. a Silver Lining brought a BIG SMILE on my face …my friend just came out of the exam hall half an hour before the actual time… felt like screaming out of joy for the victory of getting rid of him.. My friend just disappeared for a while before she came to the place where I was…. She then confesses to me that she moved away from our sight for two minutes as she could not control her laugh looking at the bugger churning my brain…

Happily I packed off my things and bid a Happy Good bye to him… and guess what? He ends up our conversation through the question of the millennium “You are coming with her over here again to write the next exam…. right????”

Just couldnt stop laughing once we were out of his sight!!!

Unforgettable Memories at UK for My Best Friend's Wedding!! (Day 2)

Opened my eyes at the violently rocking and hopping of the bus... the innumerable potholes on roads assisted the bus “a big time” in all the ways possible to give us a roller coaster ride!! Then I knew the reason why were the seats moving to and fro so liberally without the lever’s help! 

We had no idea where our stop would be..All we knew is “Ankola” stop… As we expected there were a few people in the bus who had to get down at the same stop. But the arrogant driver with all his stupidity stopped at a place which was much further than the exact location. A poor old granpa with his aged wife was really furious at the driver and the “yelling at each other” part was going on as we got down with our huge bags. We called up our friend and waited for a few minutes until her dad sent us a cab to take us to the room where we were supposed to stay…

The place was awesome, a complete “village” atmosphere, birds chirping, greenery all around, a temple view right beside, all in all a calm, serene, peaceful dwelling . Felt as if my ears went deaf as they were so habituated to the horrible noise of the busy traffic as a part of routine.

We were now getting settled and ready to meet our friend, all excited packing the gifts

… just waiting to see her in that “dulhan” attitude :)! We were dropped to her place and as we entered the home we were warmly welcomed by her family… our eyes were curious finding her and as she was called by her name, we heard the typical sound of bangles, anklet rushing downstairs… We were so excited to see her in “all girlie” looks -. mehendi in her hands, gold accessories, bangles, anklets..

Quickly she led us upstairs, n wow! we felt as if its “our own area” now! Met two of her best school friends, who in no time made us feel their own… and our gang rocked..!! We were so glad to capture our friend’s expressions as she unpacked the gifts!!

Soon we had our breakfast and set out to see the beautiful places around! Amruta’s uncle was kind enough to bear us all through the site seeing… it was really fun visiting the oldest temple there

.... and then to the most awaited : Honey beach! Yes it’s not “honey” though it was spelt that way, it was pronounced as “Honne” beach… The most beautiful beach I had ever seen in my life. Clear blue waters so dam wide…and it was for the first that my friend Manjeet actually had seen a beach live!! She just screamed n shrieked out of happiness which were a “value-addition” to our overjoyous experience!

We had to return back to our rooms as we had to attend the engagement ceremony of our friend.. Rushed to our rooms and got all set to get into the huge gathering … I had seen yet another way of engagement celebration in their culture, where the grooms family without the presence of the groom, come and adorn the bride with flowers , saree and gold… and thereafter have lunch together with the invitees.

We had awesome lunch , and for the first time I tasted something called as “Kokam kadi” which I heard in song : “Arey maine use bulaaya, kokam kadi pilaaya, aur dekh k mauka maara chauka, dil ki baat bataya!! Hehe… ya it was so tasty actually… so it isn’t wrong on the part of this song where the hero says he gave it to the heroine before he proposed to her ! LOL! :D

A tight lunch was soon followed by a short nap… where all were sailing in dreamworld except me(I am not used to sleeping day time), was just checking who opened her eyes first….. and wow! all were awake because of the loud airtel ringtone from of our fren chandrma’s cell… felt like thanking the person who called her up!! Hehe… n then the floor was all ours! Did the craziest dance possible… ranging from solo performances to group ones…from mujras to break dances…. fashion parade and then the “singing concert” putting the maximum emotions and feelings into the songs… it was just “Total Fun” and nothing else…until we realized it was time for dinner !

After a tight tasty dinner we left to our room allowing the bride to pack her things off and get herself ready for D-day… !!

Day 3: The Wedding Day!(check out for awessome experiences ahead!)

Cheers!!

Unforgettable Memories at UK for My Best Friend's Wedding!! (Day 1)

I know I had to post this long back.. Life was so busy and whatever little time I managed to spare for myself was completely being utilised to cool down my “almost-ready-to-sleep eyes” and “over heated brain”!! Ufff… Hectic work pressure had made me so numb towards my personal life that I had almost forgotten I had a blog baby of my own, which I’m supposed to keep active, keep feeding… Anyway, thanks to my friend Manjeet who stirred up my “almost dead” interest, as we took off a break from reality and happened to get lost in the memories of those four days… “those four awesome days of our life” at Karwar, UK !

Those days were special to us because we were going to see our best friend change her salutation from Ms. Amruta V.N. to Mrs. Amruta C.N.  ya in simple words it was our best friend Amruta’s wedding…. Those days were filled with a mixture of emotions…. We were happy, excited, curious, scared, frightened, (you will know the reasons for each of these as you go on ) and ofcourse a “littttle” sad for the fact that we wont be able to grab her for movies and outings at our convenience, which made us feel a little upset.

This was a four days trip and I want to treasure every single moment of fun we had at UK…yes… that’s Uttara Kannada (North Karnataka) at a cool place called Ankola (though it was a quite a bit hot there) ! 

Day 1: The day when we started from Bangalore

December 11, 2009:
All excited we had come to office with our bags packed, tickets ready and timings set. The whole day at office was a torture as we kept looking at our wrist watches, and making signs across the bays , and finally….exactly at 5:45 p.m, we started off with the bags making the least noise possible!! Huh!! After all we dint want anyone to embarrass us making a loud yell…..“BYEEEE RESHMAAAA…… BYEEE Manjeeet… Uffff!!! (that’s how a person leaving early in my office gets embarrassed!) N my friend Sharmila had to join us at the bus stand from her home, as she was on a half day leave :P

We managed to hire an auto driver who agreed to drop us to Majestic bus stand at meter charge (isn’t that a great event in Bangalore??? God bless him :)) We however reached the bus stand on time though we just had the landmarks and directions given by our friend, the honourable bride! 

The three of us- (Manjeet, Sharmila and me) got united at “Sea Bird Travels” waiting for our departure. We got into the bus looking for our seat numbers, we settled down with the luggage and soon realised we were hungry !!  Manjeet had got Haldirams bhelpuri … n yummmm the attractive yellow and red package !! Coudnot wait until the mixture was prepared and spoon by spoon was getting delivered to our tummies…

We stopped for dinner at…. Sorry I don remember the name of the place.. Ordered for rotis which were like a piece of mat giving good exercise to our jaws … n I was being fed by my frenz Manjeet and Sharmila as I had hurt my fingers the previous day…

Back to our bus… continuing our journey….….. hoping to reach our destination……closing our eyes… fallin asleeeeeep……

Day 2: (Hmmm….There’s a lot that happened.. I’ll share the thrilling experiences, which will be updated shortly! Until then see yaaaa…! Cheers… :)
